Welcome to La Maison des
Vignerons ~ a Holiday Rental Home in Montaigut le Blanc, France
La Maison des Vignerons, or "house of the
winemakers", is a vacation rental home in the South of France situated in the
medieval hill village of Montaigut le Blanc in the département
of Puy-de-Dôme, part of the historic région de l’Auvergne.
The village of
Montaigut is picturesque and unspoiled, with warm, dry summers,
crisp winters and gentle winds: sweeter weather than Midi-Provence.
It is an area of rolling hills and farmland, lakes, rivers and
striking volcanic mountains, more beautiful than Tuscany. It has
distinctive architecture, famous cheeses and an attractive
regional cuisine. A fascinating history of crusades and
struggles among the great European powers belies its peaceful
present. The Auvergne region of France is the perfect choice for your holiday in France.
Our self-catering, vacation rental home is an afternoon’s drive
south of Paris by car, in a traditional holiday region for
French families. You can bicycle from Montaigut to Issoire or
St. Nectaire, each with its famous Romanesque church. The house
is in the upper village, away from the main road, tranquil, a
block from a restored 13th century crusader castle with none of the
tourism clutter you will find on the Mediterranean coast.
French restaurants and relais in the area feature Auvergnat specialties. The nearby
city of Clermont Ferrand offers a variety of fine dining,
shopping and sightseeing. There are weekly week-day markets in the
villages, brocantes (flea markets) and festivals on week-ends.
This is a
region of wonderful cheeses: Cantal, St. Nectaire, Pavin, bleu
d'Auvergne and dozens more.
While on holiday in France, take advantage of the many
activities available in the Auvergne region such as: antique hunting, ballooning, bird
watching, boating, boules, casino, cycling, drawing and
painting, fishing, gourmet dining, hiking, horse and donkey
riding, mountain biking, photography, rambling, riverside
activities, shopping, sightseeing, skiing, snowboarding, spas,
swimming, theatre and cabaret, walking, and water sports.
How
to get there:

Paris. It is three and a half hours by train from Paris to

Etienne.
