Terms
A 40 per cent deposit is required to secure your booking, the
balance payable at least 60 days in advance. We recommend that
you pay the deposit and confirm your agreement to the rental
terms and conditions at the time you request a booking: until
the deposit is paid, the house may be rented from under you by
someone else. In any case, the entire sum is due 60 days before
the start of your rental; for bookings made within 60 days of
the beginning of your rental, you must pay the full amount to
secure the booking. If you have not paid in time, we will open
the period for rental to another party. If you have requested a
booking but not made a deposit, or if you have made a deposit
but not followed up with the balance within 60 days of the
rental, we will make an effort to contact you before re-renting,
but ultimately the responsibility is yours.
Cancellation policy
You may cancel at your discretion at any time before the start
of the rental. We may cancel your booking for non-payment.
Either way, we will try to re-rent the property; and will refund
to you 90 per cent of all rentals we ultimately receive for the
period of your booking, to a maximum of 90 per cent of what you
have paid..
We may cancel if the house is not available due to an
extraordinary circumstance. If we have to cancel your booking,
we will refund 100 per cent of what you have paid.
Payment options
Accounts are payable in euros.
Electronic Funds Transfer: Arrange to have the funds sent to the
account of Tim Padmore at the BNP-Paribas branch in Issoire,
France 63500. To reduce costs to yourself and to us, ask your
bank to use the following international bank account number and
bank identification code:
IBAN: FR76 3000 4001 4700 0010 7274 708
BIC: BNPAFRPPCLF
Euro check: Make the cheque out to Tim Padmore and mail to
Françoise Bézaux, 8 rue de l'Eglise, Montaigut le Blanc, France
63320, and she will deposit it.
Cash: Do not send cash in the mail. Please limit cash to payment
on the spot of extra costs, e.g. phone calls. Euros only, and
only to Françoise Bézaux.
Foreign currencies: We will also accept payment by check or
money order in US dollars, Canadian dollars or Sterling, at the
prevailing euro cross rate (check the newspaper). Send the check
by mail to Christabel. This is not a preferred option, as there
is always an extra cost, bother and delay.
Telephone
There is a working phone in the house. The phone number is (33)
(0)473 96 70 32. If you are going to make extensive use of the
phone (especially computer connections) please charge the calls
to your own account or arrange with Françoise to reimburse us.
France Telecom charges by the minute for both local and long
distance calls.
Damage deposit
We do not collect a damage deposit. Should you break something
(!!) simply try to replace it, or let us know. We will find a
happy solution together.
Housekeeping
The house will be clean on your arrival. It is equipped with
cleaning tools and materials for your use during your stay,
including a vacuum cleaner, a washing machine, an electric dryer
and a clothesline in the courtyard.
On departure, we expect you to leave the house tidy, broom clean
and with the dishes washed. You do not have to launder bedding
and linens before you go. There will be a charge to clean up
serious messes.
Local contact and information
Françoise Bézaux is the local contact person who will give you
the keys and help with day-to-day questions, e.g. to organize
repairs or explain operation of appliances.
In one of the kitchen drawers, you will find a list of other
local contacts (doctor, etc.), instruction manuals and other
material that may be useful during your stay. Please leave all
this material in the drawer (even if you find it elsewhere!).
Upstairs in the living room is a "house book" with comments and
information from previous guests, tourism information they have
collected, and a library of games and reading material. Feel
free to use or to add to any of these resources.
No-no's
The closet in the hall outside the master bedroom is locked.
That is where we keep personal items. There is also a locked
cupboard in the utility room off the kitchen; it contains
hazardous household items.
No pets, no smokers please.
That's it. Thank you.
